Summer Reading Lists and Assignments:
Reading is at the heart and soul of any successful language arts program. Research clearly shows a relationship between required reading and higher reading performance. At Chapel, we are on a mission to help students develop a genuine love for reading as they improve their comprehension skills. To help our students improve their reading skills, all junior high students are required to read at least two books over the summer break. The students may choose any book from their class list or on a higher class list. It is suggested that students choose different authors as well as genres.
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance With Dragons
"Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light."
–Vera Nazarian
