The Outsiders and the Poetry of Robert Frost

8th Grade Project  1 Description:

After you've completed The Outsiders, read "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and "The Road Not Taken.  Consider the theme of each poem. Are they related? Consider the themes of The Outsiders. In writing, make an argument, supported by evidence from the prose and poetry, that the three pieces of literature are thematically related and should be read and discussed together. Prepare a concise oral presentation covering your best ideas. The oral presentation should take no longer than three minutes. The oral presentation should have a strong opening and close. A written outline that includes bullets of major points should be turned in immediately following the presentation.
