Speech is open to junior high students who wish to improve oral speaking skills and become proficient speakers who are able to address an audience with poise and confidence. Category descriptions are available in the 8th grade homeroom. The team competes in approximately six events a year. The venues change depending on the school host. The competitions are day long events and students can participate in one or two categories at each event. The category list and guidelines can be obtained in the 8th grade homeroom. Appropriate dress is a must-no mention of school or name. Students are expected to exhibit role model behavior at all events.  The entry fee is 3.50 per category. Students may choose to compete in one or two events at each tournament.  Parents are required to supervise students throughout the day and serve as or provide judges (high school student or above).
